Is Sage CRM end of life?

Short answer: no, but your version might be.

Sage CRM is still an active product. A 2026 release is available and Sage continues to develop, sell and support the platform. What ends is support for individual versions.

Sage supports the current release and the one before it. Each year an older version drops out of support and another moves into extended support. Once your version falls outside that window, Sage stops issuing updates, security fixes and hotfixes. The software carries on working. It simply stops being maintained.

There is also a genuine end of life event that still causes confusion. Sage's hosted CRM service, the cloud version at sagecrm.com, was retired in August 2019. On-premise Sage CRM was unaffected, but the announcement left a lasting impression that the whole product was being wound down.

So if your Sage business partner has told you that you are heading towards end of life, they are almost certainly talking about your version rather than the product.

Being supported is not the same as being on the right system. Plenty of businesses on a fully supported version of Sage CRM are still spending their week working around it. Support status tells you whether you have a security problem. It tells you nothing about whether the platform still fits your business.

What is actually worth paying attention to

The direction of travel matters more than any single support date. Recent Sage CRM releases have removed the Classic Dashboard and discontinued translated documentation, which is now English only. Changes like these tell you where development effort is going.

A review is worth doing if any of the following apply:

  • You are two or more versions behind
  • You are running on an unsupported SQL Server or Windows Server build
  • Your Sage 50 or Sage 200 integration has become fragile or difficult to support
  • Nobody currently in the business built your customisation
  • Your team works around the CRM rather than in it

None of these means you have to replace anything. They mean you should review your Sage CRM and know what your options cost before the decision gets made for you. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes on your operational systems helps unlock financial and time savings.

How we approach a Sage CRM migration

Most of the risk in a CRM migration sits in the first two stages, which is why we spend time there before quoting anything.

  • Reviewing your version, support status, customisation and data volume
  • Understanding how your team actually uses the system day to day
  • Mapping every integration, particularly Sage 50 and Sage 200 connections
  • Setting out realistic options with costs and trade-offs, including staying put
  • Separating what migrates cleanly from what has to be rebuilt
  • Rebuilding integrations and validating them against live data
  • Training, phased go live and ongoing support

Find out where you actually stand

A Sage CRM review takes about 45 minutes. We will look at your version and support status, understand how your team uses the system and what it connects to, and give you an honest view of your options. No obligation, and no assumption that the answer is a new CRM.

We help you:

  • Confirm your true support position
  • Identify what your integrations depend on
  • Compare the cost of staying versus moving
  • Decide on evidence, not a sales deadline

What do our customers say?

“I’m using Power BI a lot more now than I did when we started with creating refreshable dashboards for the Senior Leadership Team and other management levels showing different elements of the business. We are doing this by implementing the data warehouse built by Avrion, which is very handy. I love Power BI and think it is such a great tool that every business can have/use as it turns your raw data into a story that shows different aspects from the company over time.”

Dan Costin – Restore Datashred

““The reason why I like working with Jon is because he always comes up with a solution. This was a small project but it has a big impact and solves lots of time problems. I can now make updates to the communications that go out myself and don’t need the support of Avrion for this going forward, although they are always on hand if I need help.””

Jane Margetts – Restore Records Management

“We have experienced a huge shift in the efficiency of the business with the all-round delivery of service.”

Tracey Hammond – Dengie

“We would highly recommend Avrion for both CRM and tech support applications. We recently upgraded our tech support function for both internal and external support requests. This has improved our response times, planning, service level agreements and overview of the department. Avrion is always ready to suggest improvements and evolution for our business. A big thanks to Dave, Nick and Sam at Avrion for their work on this project.”

James Blair – SPM Instrument UK

“Avrion has, from the start, been very honest and clear about what we can achieve without spending vast sums of money on an entirely new system. We created an automation wish list for Avrion, who were brilliant at listening and communicating as they tailored the project specifically to the scope. Avrion built the system according to our needs and fine-tuned it as required once we began to use it. They have been very supportive throughout and helped us navigate through the entire process. We now have a system that can evolve as the development does, to improve and continually improve account visibility for our homeowners and improve cash flow by utilising the automation that we required.”

Carly Cullen – Priors Hall Park Management

“Avrion is able to grasp a concept quickly and turn it into a deliverable that can make a significant difference to a business. They take the time to understand the requirement, taking concepts and ideas and turning them into tangible benefits to achieve the best outcome possible for the customer. I'd 100% recommend Avrion. It's been a dream working with them. They have helped us at every point in this process. I've worked with people in the past where there's a bit of tension, but with Avrion they always helped to direct our journey, in a way that was working with us as a partner, over anything else.”

Jasmin Dudden – Restore Datashred

“Integrating over 30 acquisitions, meant harmonising over 60 customer databases. Impressive, but of little use if the data is unstructured. Maximizer meant structured data, yes it requires focus, but the output is efficient to say the least; the new improved pipeline made us twice as effective, cross selling across the 5 business units - closure went up 4-fold. Integrating this with front line operational calls gave us a holistic view, reducing hundreds of days spent on internal calls, joining up the dots for our customers. Opportunities grew by over 20% with straightforward data polishing. The icing on the cake was with GDPR, good process with opt-outs and customer choice on contact options. When you feed this into the business it allows us to be focussed on the day-to-day operation, the back-end processes of store, scan and shred just become slicker – our focus with customers substantially better. Hundreds of hours freed up for improvements on invoicing, value added services, the day to day delivery with document management. Our project involved coupling existing platforms with new CRM technologies, training and a complex project roll-out. Avrion managed the transition without fuss or any ‘catch-you’ extra fees – a job well done.”

David English – Restore plc

“With our workload and team outgrowing our old method of workflow management, we needed a solution. Having worked with Avrion in the past, we asked them to take a look. Dave, Nick and Sam took the time to go through our process with us. It was decided that a ticketing system was required - the guys set up what we required and assisted us whilst we inputted our data and got it going. I think the level of customer service we have received from Avrion is 5 stars.”

Mike Bevan – SPM Instrument UK

“At our internal review in 2019 we, as a company, asked if we were doing ourselves justice using Maximizer as our CRM solution or was there something better? We concluded that the price point for the system gives us a budget to develop our own specific customisations that are more beneficial for productivity and efficiency as well. After almost a year of trying unsuccessfully to engage with our existing partner, trying to get them to talk about upgrading and personalising the system, we decided to switch over to Avrion. Avrion had been in conversation with us and once we engaged with them, they immediately gave us something unique. They allowed us to effectively have an off-the-shelf CRM system that we could customise – at affordable rates. Rates that are competitive for SMEs. Once we formed a partnership with Avrion, for the first time in seventeen years we were working with a really engaged partner, which is something unique. Avrion enabled the changes to revolutionise our workflow through small steps that added huge impact. Not many people do that.”

Cole Fellows – The Insurance Network

“Data is one of the most valuable assets any business has, but unlocking its true value depends on quality, meaningful analysis, and having the right tools and skills to turn insights into strategy and revenue. Having worked with Avrion, I can say they really do bring the expertise to help businesses make that transformation!”
